If a good soil surface cannot be achieved, direct drilling is preferred. It is recommended to sow consistently at a depth of 2-3 cm for rapid and uniform germination. Oilseed rape requires phosphorous for its establishment, so fertilizer treatment might be required on certain fields. Regarding the sowing time, winter oilseed rape can be sown in Spain between the beginning of September and until mid-October. Because oilseed rape must be well-established before the winter starts, the sowing must be done earlier in the cooler regions. Within that time frame, the decisive factor that determines the specific sowing time point is good for the humidity of the soil. Regarding the sowing density, it should ensure a final density between 30 and 40 plants per m2. It is therefore recommended to sow between 65 and 75 viable seeds per m2 in poor rain-fed fields and between 45 and 55 in irrigated fields. I hope this helps.
